Mr. DeAnte Spann serves as a 4th grade reading/language arts and social studies teacher at Morton Upper Elementary School. He also serves as an instructional technologist, ELA grade chair, webmaster for MES, and a member of the district 3-5th grade curriculum, instruction, and assessment team. He has a passion for educating, inspiring, and engaging the next generation of leaders. As a teacher, his goal is to provide students with the skills and dispositions they need in order to be successful, productive citizens of society.

His recent accomplishments was being awarded the 2016 Award of Excellence at Alcorn State University, the highest honor during commencement exercises as well as named the 2016-2017 Teacher of the Year for Morton Upper Elementary, an award selected by peer teachers and administration. 

Additionally, he has been selected as a Who's Who among Students in American Colleges and Universities and Who's Who Among Executives and Professionals. He has conducted research studies that have been published in academic journals focused around retention and completion for underrepresented groups in public/higher education and the significant role that males play in the field of education.
